Hollywood in Handball Shame

20th October 2010

The Mavericks endured yet another setback when they visited Roehampton University on Wednesday afternoon.  After travelling for well over an hour (In which time Luke Rutherford aged another 8 years due to his illness) the Mavericks were looking forward to an early kick off.

Sadly the appointed referee had other ideas, and insisted on delaying the kick off while he feasted on an array of meat pies and high fat products in his ice cream van parked outside the ground.
The game itself lacked any form of notable incident until just before the final whistle. The Mavericks were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Roehampton penalty area, Liam Panther delivered a pin point cross to the onrushing trio of Crudden, Patel & skipper Hollywood (pictured below).  Sadly the open goal was not motivation enough and someone stuck out a hand in an attempt to divert the ball in to the net.

The referee believed that the former Polish international Hollywood was to blame, Hollywood defended his innocence saying that the Eastern Europeans are always blamed when things go wrong,  The game finished 0-0 but the main talking point was the skippers behavior, we are currently unsure what will happen next as Hollywood has gone AWOL.  Friends close to the skipper say that he was distraught and was spiraling out of control, Hollywod was angered about how the referee could tell that it was his hand in the incident.
The Mavericks have a week off to lick their wounds and return as the champions they are known to be.  In the meantime if anyone knows the whereabouts of the skipper please inform the Mavericks management immediately.  Ben Young has already measured himself up (and stolen the arm band) and only the great Pole can retrieve it.....Come back, we forgive you!  Go Mavericks
